Romania 3 - 0 Ukraine: Group E, Euro 2024

Updated: Jul 1

The highly anticipated Euro 2024 match between Romania and Ukraine, held at Allianz Arena in Munich, was a spectacle full of excitement and tactical prowess. Romania, aiming to make a strong impression after missing out on the previous European Championship, faced Ukraine, a team with high expectations.

First Half

From the first whistle, the intensity was palpable. Romania showcased an aggressive start, pressing high and controlling the early proceedings. Ukraine, on the other hand, struggled to find their rhythm in the first half. Their midfield, usually dynamic, seemed out of sync, and they failed to capitalize on a few promising opportunities. Despite this, Ukraine's determination was evident, and they managed to create some nervy moments for the Romanian defense towards the end of the first half.

In the 29th minute, Nicolae Stanciu opened the scoring with a precise shot from outside the box, catching the Ukrainian defense off guard. This goal boosted Romania's confidence and they began to press more aggressively.

Second Half

Ukraine started the second half with renewed vigor, trying to overturn the deficit. However, Romania's defense remained solid and organized, with significant contributions from their defenders and goalkeeper.

In the 53rd minute, Răzvan Marin doubled Romania's lead with a well-executed goal. Ukraine's defensive errors were again evident as they struggled to contain Romania's quick and decisive attacks.

Just four minutes later, in the 57th minute, Denis Drăguș sealed the victory for Romania with a third goal. This goal was the result of a swift counter-attack, catching Ukraine off guard and ensuring Romania's dominance in the match.

Unfortunately, the Ukraine national team could not find at least one great moment to score at least 1 goal, which could affect its further exit from the group. We would like to remind you that in this Top 4 draw, the third-placed teams will be able to compete for the Playoffs. Now, this mission has become more difficult for the Ukrainians, given that they do not have the easiest rivals ahead of them.
